Question
The number of H atoms in 10.0 moles of NH 3 (subscript)
Expert Solution
Step 1

The number of atoms or particles present in 1 mol of substance is given by Avogadro constant. The number of atoms present per mole of substance is 6.022×1023 atoms/mol.

Step 2

The number of moles of NH3 is 10.0 mol. Each molecule of NH3 contains three hydrogen (H) atoms. The number of H-atoms present in NH3 is calculated as,

NH=3 H-atoms×nNH3×NA

Where,

  • nNH3 is the number of moles of NH3.
  • NA is the Avogadro constant.

Substitute the value of number of moles and Avogadro constant in the above formula.

NH=3 H-atoms×10 mol×6.022×1023 atoms/mol=1.8066×1025 H-atoms
