The narrow view of corporate social responsibility talks about how the corporate vicinity of "care and responsibility" lies within the company's owners and its shareholders. The moral obligation to anyone further is then said to be out of their hands. On the other hand, the broad view of corporate responsibility takes that moral obligation and "care and responsibility" further past the corporation directly. I would have to easily say that I favor the broad view of corporate responsibility for many reasons. Every activity a corporation takes place in has an effect, both direct and indirect, on the world, whether that be other companies, the surrounding area, or the natural environment nearby. The idea of not having to worry about what they do to the surrounding area bothers me, as they can quickly destroy the environment that has been formed through thousands of years. With that nearby area destroyed, who knows the adverse effects on the environment for that area? I feel a strong moral obligation to respect the area surrounding you the same way that it respects you as we both need each other to survive and thrive. This is why I favor the broad view of corporate social responsibility.

Expert Solution
Step 1: Understand the two views of corporate social responsibility (CSR)

Narrow view: CSR is limited to the relationship between corporations and their owners and shareholders. Corporations have no moral obligation to consider the impact of their activities on anyone else.

Broad view: CSR extends beyond the corporation's direct stakeholders to include all of society and the environment. Corporations have a moral obligation to consider the impact of their activities on all stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, the surrounding community, and the natural environment.
