The eyes in humans are sensory organs that enable the human vision. It is a paired structure that responds to the light sensations and allows the human body to see their surroundings by forming the images. There are two eyes in humans, each of which are situated within the orbital cavities of the skull. The part of the eye that is visible on the outside forms the anterior segment of the eye. This segment consists of sclera which represents the white part, the iris which forms the dark part, and the pupil which is the black hole located in the center of each iris. The other structures present in the anterior segment of the eye include the cornea, iris, ciliary body, and lens. The posterior segment of the eyes contains the retina among other structures. The retina is the innermost photosensitive tissue which is responsible for interception of light senses and sending the interceptions to the brain through neurons which then elicit the perception of color, shape, depth, movement, and other features.
