Expert Solution
Step 1

Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition in which there is a disturbance in sleep because of the cut in respiration.

This condition occurs when the muscles of the throat like the tongue and palate relax temporarily and it leads to narrowing of airways and breathing is cut for a moment. This condition usually occurs when the patient is sleeping and it leads to tachycardia, tachypnea, snoring, etc.

It can occur because of excessive weight, chronic nasal congestion, smoking, diabetes, etc.
