Papakura Dweller It's a good life in Papakura, especially far the thildren. We live on a big acre section where they can build tree houses and have adventures. My husband owns a shop in Papakura and we all help out. We hardly ever leave the Papakura area because it has everything we need and Auckland city is half a days train ride away. Why would we want to go there anyway? It is crowded and smelly with all the factories. I feel sorry for people who live there, This is exactly where we want to live. We love our little rural town. T hope it never changes. for urbah Sprawl Many Auckland residents desire their own house and backyard. Wirimu Takerei and his family own their house in Papakura. "We've owned this place for 7 years now. We love this house and ts big garden. Both my wife and I work in the CBD and it's a long commute from Papakura, It would be good to live somewhere more central and be closer to work but there is no way we could afford a house like this with so much land for the kids there. We are both happy to put up with the long commute so we can afford our own house with a bit of land. I guess we re lucky we live in a city where a stand- alone house is affordable at all. Thave worked in cities overseas where hardly anyone can afford houses and most people live in small, crowded apartments where there are hardly any parks or open spaces to relax in. Here, we gre close to parks and areas of bush for the kids to play in and we often go for walks in Totara Park on the weekends.
