Every research consists of samples, that is, the number of participants, and there are three types of distributions:
1. POPULATION DISTRIBUTION: In this distribution, the sample involves the entire set of people or values one is interested to study. For instance, if one is interested in knowing about the heights of the residents of the United States of America, then that is the population of the study - the U.S.A. The statistical characteristics of population distribution involve the mean, median, standard deviation, etc.
2. SAMPLE DISTRIBUTION: In this type of distribution, the sample is a subset of the population one wishes to study, and it becomes a representative of the same. Therefore, if one wants to identify the average height of the residents of the U.S.A, they select a sample of 1,000 people from the population and decipher the average height. The statistical characteristics of population distribution involve the mean, median, standard deviation, etc.
3. SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION: It is a statistic that is derived from repeated sampling of a larger population. It provides a range of outcomes, such as those of mean and other related variables. However, the standard deviation of a sampling distribution is referred to as the standard error.
