The digestive system of human is made up of the digestive tract which is a long tube containing organs that starts with the mouth and ends with anus. Digestion begins in the mouth where the teeth tear and chop the food into small pieces. Then, the salivary gland secret saliva that digests food. Food travels down through the esophagus then into the stomach. The stomach muscles churn and mix the food with digestive juice (gastric juice). Then, food leaves the stomach and squirted down into the small intestines where it is pushed, by the intestinal contractions, and digested by the action of the pancreatic and intestinal juices and transforms it into nutrients that are absorbed by the blood stream. From the small intestines, undigested food travels to the large intestines, and then excreted outside through the anus in the form of stool (feces). Read the above text; then answer the following questions: 1. Complete the following table: Organ Action of mechanical digestion Action of chemical digestion Mouth Stomach Small intestines 3. Give the name of the: 3.1- Liquefied digested food. 3.2- Undigested food.
