The cause of connection problems when using thermocouples for measurements done remotely (long distance) and its solution.
Thermocouples
Thermocouples are temperature measurement instruments used in industrial and scientific applications. These are robust temperature measurement devices that are valued for their ability to measure a wide temperature range i.e. from to to .
Thermocouples measure temperature differentials and not the absolute temperature. At the tip, two wires, each composed of a different metals, are connected. This is known as the measurement junction. At the other end, the wires are connected to a body of a known temperature, called the reference junction. A thermocouple operates by measuring the voltage difference between the two junctions. The measured voltage is converted into a temperature unit, with the temperature reading displayed on a device or transmitted to a remote location.
