The abilities of six different brand athletic socks to wick moisture are rated. The rating is based on the time to reach 1% moisture content after being subjected to a gentle mist. Use the relations for sums of squares and degree of freedoms, df, to complete the following ANOVA table below. Question

Kindly answer part b) only.

(a)
An investigation carried out to study the toxic effects of mercury was described in the article
"Comparative Responses of the Action of Different Mercury Compounds on Barley"
(International Journal of Environmental Studies [1983]). Eight different concentrations of
mercury were compared with respect to their effects on average dry weight (per 100 seven-
day-old seedlings). The basic experiment was replicated 4 times for a total of 32
observations. The article reported an ANOVA F test statistic of 2.215.
i.
State the null hypothesis H, and alternative hypothesis H1.
ii.
Determine the degree of freedoms between groups, df, and degree of freedoms
within groups, df2.
iii.
Find the F- critical value at significance level of 0.025
iv.
Using critical value method, test the hypothesis that the true mean dry weight is not
the same for all 8 concentration levels.
