What does this mean?

They are an organization aimed at providing sporting events for non-competitive athletes. This organization prides itself on providing safe, wholesome fun for athletes ages 12-17. There are multiple facilities throughout their region where games/events can be hosted.

You have been hired by DBD Sports to help them create a database to track data annually (we will keep 3 years of rolling data) for

Sports: The currently offered sports are basketball, volleyball and kickball. More sports may be added in the future. We also need to track when the sign-up time period is for each sport.

Facility Locations: Lux North, Lux East, Lux South, Lux West and Lux Central; all facilities offer all sports.

Athletes: Besides name and some demographic information, we need to record the "home facility" for the athlete. Athletes are welcome to go to any facility but ONE must be recorded as their home facility. Each athlete can only be on one team per sport. They may not switch teams once a sport has begun. For example: if Joey is on the 2023 "Team Air" basketball team, he can be on no other 2023 basketball team. He could, however, be on a kickball and/or volleyball team that year.

Teams: Besides team name, contact name and contact phone number, the team's "home facility" also needs to be tracked.

Athletes on a Team: The athletes on each team need to be recorded. The team must be registered to at least one sport.

Teams have the option to register as a new team (with a new name) before a season begins. Once a team registers for a sport, though, they can no longer change their name for that year.

The other rules the owner passed along are as follows:

No team names can duplicate.

Athlete names could be duplicate. For example, there could be more than one individual with the name Gary Sped.

Athletes per team can change between sports. However, athletes assigned to a team may not switch teams mid-season for any sport. For example, in the 2024 Basketball season, Team Air consists of Sam, Mai, Austin, Lexi, and Victor. Their 2023 team consisted of Joey, Sally, Mai, Austin, and Farah. The same teams could also play volleyball and/or kickball.

This database will NOT keep track of schedules or outcomes of any sporting events.
