The Hardy-Weinberg principle talks about the Hardy-Weinberg principle which states that the genetic variation in a population is constant or in equilibrium when there is no disruption in a randomly mating large population. The disruptive events that can disturb the equilibrium are mutation, genetic drift, natural selection, etc. This principle is given by the formula : p2 +2pq + q2 = 1 , where p identifies the dominant homozygotes, 2pq the heterozygotes and q the recessive homozygotes of the population.
