A 3-phase, 4-pole induction motor drives a conveyor which needs a constant torque over its entire operating speed range. The per-phase rotor resistance referred to the stator side is 0.74 2. The motor is fed from a 3-phase inverter-based adjustable speed drive, with a volt per hertz control scheme. When the fundamental component of the inverter line output voltage is 400 V (rms), 50 Hz, the motor operates at its rated speed of 1470 rpm.
The electromagnetic torque produced by the motor can be approximated as:
(a) Estimate the rated
(b) It is proposed to reduce the power consumption of the drive by operating at half of the rated speed. Estimate the required fundamental line voltage and frequency of the inverter
(c) Assess the effect of the stator winding parameters on the air-gap flux found in Part(a)
