Summarize the effects of aging on the nervous system.
The nervous system is the body's organ system that comprises Nerve cells and principally responsible for transmitting impulses from the body to the brain and vice versa to carry out the body's functions, which are necessary for organism survival and normal functioning of the body.
As a person ages, There are several changes occur within the nervous system. The nervous system cells decrease in number, and the organs like the brain and spinal cord lose atrophy. The signal transduction slows down, and there occurs an accumulation of waste products and other chemicals in the brain's tissues. As a result of which there occur episodic memory and confusion. These all changes cause slowing down of several processes in the body.
