Stephen is four years old and gets very angry when his father feeds him and his sister mashed potatoes. Although his father attempts to give the exact same amount of potatoes to both children, Stephen perceives his sister has gotten more than he has. The reason Stephen believes he has been shorted on his potatoes is due to his sister smashing hers out and covering her whole plate. Stephen doesn’t realize that just because the potatoes look different on their plates, that it is still the same amount of potatoes.
