Split Barrel sampler is that the equipment used for taking an undisturbed sample. The sampler barrel is splitted longitudinally into two halves. When the sampler is drives driving, both the halves are held together by the shoe and head with the help of screw on to each end.

Although the sample obtained from split barrel are easy for examination and extraction but it makes the sampler weaker. The samples' weakness is compensated by using samplers that are usually short and have a high area ratio.
