Two American tourists, Amanda and John, decided to tour China. They decided to visit places like Chongqing. Upon arriving there, they were immediately taken aback by the crowd as John states, "Why is the airport so crowded? Don't people have things to do?" Their hotel sent a car to pick them up and when they got in the car, the driver said something incomprehensible to them in broken English and Amanda snorted immediately, whispering to John's ears, "They sent a driver to pick up American people but can't even speak English?" While going to hotel, the driver stops over to pick up some fuel and starts chatting with the elderly worker in the fuel station. While observing them John tells Amanda, "Why do they move so much when they talk? Did you notice the driver is looking down when speaking?" Then they hear loud voices coming from the people outside and feel scared, thinking that the people started shouting and fighting with each other. They quietly await their driver's return. After he returns, John asks in broken English (thinking that it'll be easier for the driver to understand), "why you fight? Problem?" The driver, all confused, asks in return "Why problem? We just talk. No problem. He is a friend". Amanda and John look at each other and Amanda also flips her eyes in disbelief. She thought they were too loud for normal conversation but decides not to pry for further answers. When they reached their hotel, they wanted to have lunch in the hotel's restaurant. After experiencing poor English from their driver, they thought they should continue the broken English while ordering food. When the waiter came to take order, John, pointing out a dish on the menu, said “have? You have? I eat". The waiter, stunned, replied politely, “Yes, sir. We have this. Would you like to place order for this?" Awed by his English, John decided not to use broken English anymore.
