Simon, a physics student, has an idea. He wants to build a device that will let him see around corners. He suggests that if he places a diffraction grating around a corner it would bend the light towards his eyes and he could see it. why you think this would or would not be possible.

Expert Solution
Introduction:

Diffraction, the spreading of waves around obstacles. Diffraction takes place with sound; with electromagnetic radiation, such as light, X-rays, and gamma rays; and with very small moving particles such as atoms, neutrons, and electrons,  which show wavelike properties.

Diffraction is depend on the wavelength. Light has  a very small wavelength, so only very small objects or gaps can effect its direction. The wall blocks the light and the person can not see round the corner.

Sound waves bend round objects of a similar size to their wavelength. The effect is called diffraction.
