Sexual Adjustment Case Study   Imagine that at some time in the future a minority of the population, both male and female, enjoy engaging in sexual activity with lifelike robots. Imagine also that the majority of the population does not accept this as a “normal” or “healthy” sexual orientation (i.e., it is highly stigmatized by a majority of society). Even though only adults could ever afford a robot capable of sexual interaction and there are no issues of non-consent involved in sex with robots, laws have been enacted to restrict the programming of such robots to activities that are strictly nonsexual in nature. A flourishing underground industry of robot re-programmers has come into existence that caters to those who enjoy “robo-sex”. Moreover, in some jurisdictions, sex with robots has been criminalized and the DSM 9 has listed sex with robots as a psychopathology. Accordingly, treatment programs have been established to ‘cure’ individuals who are found to have engaged in sexual activity with robots.   Outline and discuss the various courses of action for sexual adjustment available to those of this sexual orientation (i.e., what options do people who enjoy robo-sex have for responding to the existing Grand Narrative which rejects, condemns, and penalizes them for their sexual desires?). Draw examples from “taboo” sexual orientations that have in the past, or are in the process of becoming, socially acceptable today to illustrate how these individuals might deal with the social and legal sanctions placed upon them for expressing their sexual preferences.

Sexual Adjustment Case Study

Imagine that at some time in the future a minority of the population, both male and female, enjoy engaging in sexual activity with lifelike robots.
