The most reputable, admired, and skilled counselor at The Family Help and Services Center in Western Jamaica is Jordan Knight. Three months ago, he was given the 42-year-old homosexual Bruce Bane as a client. Bruce recently "came out" to his family and friends, but instead of feeling relieved, he feels as though it was the worst thing he could have done. This is the current issue. Since then, he has regretted his choice. He discovers that he cannot maintain a romantic engagement with another man for longer than three months, and his career is likewise stalled. He believes that being gay has prevented him from moving up in his career.Jordan and Bruce have created a contract that centers on the issue at hand. Jordan was incredibly kind and understanding to Bruce over the course of the treatment. His goal was to assist Bruce in regaining his sense of self-acceptance as a homosexual guy. Jordan's sympathetic and perceptive demeanor won Bruce over, and he began to publicly admire him. At the conclusion of one session, Bruce gave Jordan an unprompted hug and expressed his gratitude for him and his method of handling the situation. Bruce would hug Jordan more frequently the more confident he felt about himself. Later, Bruce said that for some reason, he had started to like Jordan. Jordan is well aware of the ethical considerations and professional limitations that are involved, but he is also a homosexual.
