The ability to interpret the visual stimuli is called visual information processing. It is a complex process through which light energy is converted into a meaningful image.
- First the light passes through the clear front part of the eye called cornea.
- After passing from the cornea, pupil and iris decide how much light should enter into eye.
- Light hits the retina - it is a sensitive area at the back part of the eye hwere photoreceptor cells are found, after passing from pupil, iris and lens.
- When retina receive the light, it converts light into electrical signal with help of photoreceptor cells.
- These electrical signals are carried away from eye to brain by optical nerve to primary visual cortex located in the occipital lobe of the brain.
- Brain interpret the signal and we see what we see.
