Question

how do you get the computed values

a. Resistor connection for maximum resistance
1. Determine the type of electrical connection for three (3) resistors so that it would
result in maximum equivalent resistance across the terminals.
2. Use MultiSim (or any circuit simulator) to demonstrate this. Use the resistance
values assigned per group. NOTE: For simulators with ohmmeter functions, the
circuit should be de-energized, otherwise the circuit needs to be energized and use
ohm's law to determine the resistance from the voltmeter and ammeter
connections.
3. Design the step-by-step procedure to obtain maximum equivalent resistance for
the three resistors, label this as R123. Record in table 5.2. Include connection of the
power supply and required measuring devices. Energize the circuit with a 30Vde
source.
4. Using the theoretical formula, compute for R123. [design part end]
5. Using the simulator, determine also the equivalent resistance from the
combination of two resistors, R12 for Resistors 1 & 2 and so on. Record in table
5.2.
6. Using the theoretical formula, compute for R12, R23 and R31.
7. Refer to the circuit in step 3, change the resistance values of each resistor in your
simulator to 102. Determine the equivalent resistance and record in table 5.2 as
R'.
8. Using the theoretical formula, compute for R'.
