Variable Cost - These are the cost which is per unit fixed, if more units are produced then more cost incur, if less units are produced then less cost incur and if no units are produced then no cost will be required.

Variable cost of manufacturing includes all cost up to the factory cost and variable cost of units sales includes all cost up  to the cost of sale which includes sales commission as well.

As we know generally sales commission is given on number of units sold hence it is variable in nature.
