Reply to this discussion: Glacier National Park is a beautiful natural park that attracts many tourists from all over the world. This in turn supports the park, and the surrounding cities that house those who come to visit the park. Some of these cities include Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and Kalispell. Being home to a wide variety of wildlife species including grizzly bears, mountain lions, and elk, its safe to say that Glacier National Park plays an important role in supporting wildlife both inside and outside its boundaries. Fishing and hunting are both popular in these areas, and the support given by Glacier National Park allows people to engage in these activities in a sustainable way. Not only does Glacier National Park support the economy, wildlife, and hunting, but it has also led to population growth within the surrounding cities. For example, the population in Kalispell has grown from 19,927 in 2010 to 24,270 in 2019. People move here because of this park's beauty and its impact on the economy and environment around them. However, this may not be a good thing, for increases in population and tourism may also mean an increase in usage of natural resources, pollution, and noise, which may lead to a negative impact on the park's natural environment. Climate change (both natural and human-caused) has already had an effect on the glaciers leading them to melt more significantly, and more fires have been experienced in the park due to this changing climate. Nevertheless, as tourism and climate change has had a major impact on both the economy of the surrounding cities and the state of the national park, this impact isn't only negative. Tourism brings life to new businesses in the area for the cities, and also raises awareness to the importance of protecting the wildlife and natural resources of the park, leading to better conservation efforts. Climate change brings threats that we must face in order to protect this strong yet fragile land. In summary, the condition of Glacier National Park is okay for the time being, but climate change and population growth will change that if not properly managed, for the long-term safety and security of Glacier National Park and many others
