everything
Emma Jones is a young entrepreneur who recently used "GMAT
Success", a test-prep book and software package for the business
school admission test. Emma loved the book and program so much
that after graduating she signed a contract with GMAT Success's
publisher to sell the learning materials. She recently sold them at a
college fair in Boston and is now thinking of selling them at a
college fair in Chicago. Emma can purchase each package (book
and software) from the publisher for $120 per package, with the
privilege of returning all unsold packages and receiving a full $120
refund per package. Selling price is 200$.
She must pay $2,000 to rent a booth at the fair. She will incur no
other costs.
Should she rent the booth or not?
Refer to the Emma Jones
■ Add the following to the case:
105 shipping and 5$ packaging costs;
The event in Chicago is a 2-day fair, consequently, she needs to stay in Chicago for 3 nights.
Make a (educated) guess of the costs related to the stay (hotel, subsidence) and add this to the
calculation;
Emma lives in New York. Add traveling cost to the calculation
Make the calculation of the Breakeven point following the 3 methods
Contribution method;
. Equation method;
CVP-Graph.
Calculate the turnover in money and units for a target profit of 4000$. Indicate this point
on the CVP graph.
■ Include in your calculation a method Emma could use to make a forecast of the units
she will sell in Chicago, and, using this forecast as the working point, predict her
income. Indicate this point on the CVP graph.
