Case: Lifeboat Dilemma

After a terrible shipwreck, Captain Hugo together with his seven crewmen and thirty-two passengers crowded into a lifeboat. But this was more than the number the lifeboat could hold. Winds and heavy rains would capsize the whole lot in a very short time. He made a quick check of the passengers and discovered that there were five adult males and twenty-five women and children. The boat began to shriek as waves started to slam it. The captain ordered the male passengers out of the lifeboat, but no one moved. Any second, the captain thought, the lifeboat would sink and everybody would surely die. He knew he could easily force the male passengers out of the lifeboat by ordering his crewmen to toss them into the ocean. But as devout Christian, he was also aware that it was wrong to order tossing of these men out and risk possible drowning.
