Five different class of soil organisms:
1. Protists (smallest group)
It includes bacteria, actinomycetes, algae.
2. Microfauna
These are less than 100 microns of length and feed upon other microorganisms. Examples are single celled protozoa, nematodes, rotifers.
3. Mesofauna
These are little larger and heterogeneous. Examples are mites, springtales, insect like proturans etc.
4. Macrofauna
Common example is potworms, slug, snails etc
5. Megafauna
Largest soil organism like earthworm.
