Expert Solution
Step 1

Given:

Value of the trading card = $155 (in 2009)

Each year increases by = 4.8% = 0.048

To determine:

Value in 2021=?

Solution:

We will use here Exponential equation formula,

As the price is increasing exponentially, or at a constant rate:

So, our equation becomes:

                                                 y=a×bt      ...........(1)

where                    aInitial value = 155$ ,

                              b : growth per year = (1+0.048=1.048) as price is increasing per year, and

                              t : No.of years for which the final price has to be determined =12 (2021 - 2009) and

                              y : final price value
