provide a response to the following paragraph What intrigued me in chapter 9 in the book it states, "Progress has been significant but they are often stigmatized as being more academically challenged than their White and Asian American peers. Yet Latinos are more likely to aspire to continue their education with 49 percent of high-school graduates enrolled in college compared to 47 percent of Whites". . ."On the positive side are the high aspirations that Latinos show for continuing school. About 88 percent of Latinos agree that a college degree is necessary to get ahead in life compared to 74 percent of the general population." Being a Latina, in my family, my mom wanted me to future my education, my family kinda of forced it. They weren't able to go to college or further their education. I made the decision on my own to make a better living for me and my future. And it is true for me that a college degree is the only way I would be able to make a living for myself or get ahead in life. Specially being Puerto Rican, I live with a lot of stereotypes. When it comes to my education, I take it every serious and take all the challenges that come with it. Growing up I also faced challenges with my english class. I didn't get good at english until I was in 11th grade. At home my grandparents spoke to me in Spanish while everyone else spoke english. So my words weren't right. But even though it's not my fault I can't speak Spanish or i'm not exactly doing well with english either, I know I can get farther then where I am today.
