Question

provide a response to the following paragraph

After reading discussion two I was I very intrigued when they talked about how prejudice and discrimination are related concepts, but they’re not the same. Prejudice is described as a negative attitude toward entire category of people. What separates prejudice from discrimination, is prejudice has to do with beliefs, attitudes, and concepts toward a large group of people. While discrimination on the other hand has to do with “ denial of opportunities and equal rights to individuals and groups as a result of prejudice or for other arbitrary reasons”(Richard,2023). As we can see, discrimination and prejudice are different, because prejudice has to do with attitudes and concepts toward a large group of people and discrimination is denying someone a right because of a prejudice you have about their people. Understanding, discrimination and prejudice has been very difficult for me as I often get the two terms confused, but now that I’ve read this chapter, this chapter has deeply explained the differences between the two and how we can identify whether someone is being prejudiced toward a large group of people or if they are being discriminative. Chapter 2 was filled with alot of information but understanding the differences between discrimination and prejudice, intrigued me the most.
