PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. TITLE
Project Title:
(A READING
LITERACY PROGRAM)
Proposed Date: June 19
July 3,
2021
Proponents:
Non-reader/
Slow
Reader Youths
II. INTRODUCTION
It is with delight for the students of
11 STEM of Lalave High School to
pioneer/initiate such program intended
for the nonreader/slow reader youths.
Since we are in a pandemic, the students'
reading literacy is currently at stake that
even the basics of it - phonetics and
syllabication, are hardly learned. Hence,
the grade 11 Stem Franklin students has
considered it as an issue that needs to
be addressed.
Literacy is essential to developing a
strong
sense
of
well-being
and
citizenship.
Students
who
have
developed strong reading skills perform
better in school and have a healthier self-
image. As the young students of this
community, it is the one of our roles to
innovate and implement programs that
would cater the needs of those youths
who struggle from learning the basics of
reading. The group of students of
Barangay Lala knows it well that there
are still students who are still not able to
read some basic words even though they
are already entering high school. With
this program, they could at least be
guided
with
the
proper
word
pronunciation
and
syllabication.
Consequently, providing them,
the
slow/non-reader youths with a program
that would at least ease the effects of
the pandemic on their education.
This Senior High students' program
under
Education
is
somehow
an
adaptation of the DepEd Region V's
"Brigada " program. Youth beneficiaries
of the program will be taught how to read
for 2 hours per Saturday, from 8:30AM-
10:30AM. A youth volunteer group, and
some Licensed Professional Teachers of
the community will be partners of our
group throughout the implementation of
the program.
III. PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to help
the Youths to learn on how to properly
read some basic English word. Reading
is important for a variety of reasons. It is
important to realize that struggling with
vital reading skills is not a sign of low
intelligence. As we all know that in some
part of our country there are some
people who struggles in reading and
writing because of the poverty that they
face in their life. Thus, our group will use
this opportunity to teach the youths on
how to read despite the challenges that
our world is facing, we will not be going
to stop just to teach and guide the youths
because we believe that they are the only
key to for our nation to succeed. This will
also help to encourage them to study
their lesson instead of playing and
surfing to the internet.
Goals and Objectives
-Address issues regarding reading
literacy among the youths.
-To provide ample latitude in utilizing
appropriate funds and response efforts
to continue to provide basic services to
the affected population amidst the
COVID-19 pandemic.

students will
announce the details of this program
through a Facebook post and/or a poster
at any conspicuous places in the
barangay.
Then,

beneficiary
mapping/recruitment will be conducted
where
the
target
beneficiaries
themselves and their parents will be
asked personally and virtually if they are
willing to be enrolled in the program.

finalized,
pre-assessment will be
a
conducted prior to the start of the
reading sessions proper, where they will
be assessed if they could read certain
words by just looking at the letters
(without getting any aid from the tutors).
Reading sessions will start at 8:30 until
10:30 in the morning, every Saturday
from June 19-July 3, 2021. The program
will address reading literacy issues and
so the tutors will start from the basics of

paragraphs and passages so that there
shall be a spiral progression of learning.
