The sociological imagination, a concept established by C. Wright Mills (1916-1962) provides a framework for understanding our social world that far surpasses any common sense notion we might derive from our limited social experiences. If you take Mills' stance, you'll start to believe that every problem faced by an individual has roots in society as a whole and is faced by many others.
The common teenage problems that teenagers face today are usually related to:
- Self-Esteem and Body Image.
- Stress.
- Bullying.
- Depression.
- Cyber Addiction.
- Drinking and Smoking.
- Teen Pregnancy.
- Underage Sex.
If we look into a deeper understanding we can see that such problems faced by adolescents have a larger base in society. If we look around children all around the world face the same issues. Due to unemployment and lack of proper education, adolescents gets stuck up in this loophole. They do not have proper sex education which will help them in understanding about the disadvantages of teenage pregnancy. Children often face depression either getting too much attached into social media or suffer from loneliness.
Nationwide, students come to college as freshmen who are often ill-prepared to understand the rigors of college life. They haven’t often been challenged enough in high school to make the necessary adjustments required to succeed in college. Nationwide, the average teenager text messages, surfs the Net, plays video games, watches TV, spends hours each day with friends, and works at least part-time.
