Expert Solution

Step 1 Equivalent concentrated load
A uniform distributed load is a force delivered uniformly over the length of support. When a load is uniformly distributed, the likelihood of support bending and/or failing is much decreased when compared to a point load situation. Bending is more likely under concentrated loads.
The equivalent loading approach replaces an arbitrary distribution of lateral loading portions of a beam with focused loads and couplings that are totally equal to the provided loading in terms of the remainder of the beam.
