Permutations and Combinations
If there are 5 dishes, they can be relished in any order at a time. In permutation, it should be in a particular order. In combination, the order does not matter. Take 3 letters a, b, and c. The possible ways of pairing any two letters are ab, bc, ac, ba, cb and ca. It is in a particular order. So, this can be called the permutation of a, b, and c. But if the order does not matter then ab is the same as ba. Similarly, bc is the same as cb and ac is the same as ca. Here the list has ab, bc, and ac alone. This can be called the combination of a, b, and c.
Counting Theory
The fundamental counting principle is a rule that is used to count the total number of possible outcomes in a given situation.
Question 4 subpart-A,b,c
![3. Please provide 10 numbers whose mean is 100.
a. Create a frequency distribution graph or histogram for your set of numbers
b. What is the mean, median, and mode of your numbers
c. Make a table including 1 row for each observation and calculate deviation, and
squared deviation for each number [HINT: SEE EXAMPLE 4.2 or 4.4 in the text]
d. By hand, calculate the variance and standard deviation of the set of numbers
e. What is another measure of variation you could use to describe these numbers
4. Provide an additional 10 numbers whose mean is 100 but whose standard deviation is
larger than in Problem 3.
a. Again, construct a frequency distribution graph
b. What is the new variance and standard deviation.
c. Which observations contributed the most to the increased standard deviation.
С.
d. What is the interquartile range for these 10 numbers.
e. If you combine all 20 numbers together, what will happen to the variance and
standard deviation?](/v2/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.bartleby.com%2Fqna-images%2Fquestion%2Fd9f9cd27-b67b-490f-bc88-504ec97be348%2F0dfaf205-c047-419f-aeea-b4b4b7e6f5c3%2Fbwtkzyl_processed.jpeg&w=3840&q=75)
