Buoyancy is a fundamental concept in physics that relates to the upward force exerted on an object submerged in a fluid (liquid or gas). This force opposes the weight of the object and allows it to either float or appear lighter when immersed in the fluid. Buoyancy is best described by Archimedes' principle, which states that the buoyant force acting on an object submerged in a fluid is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. In simpler terms, if an object is less dense than the fluid it is immersed in, it will float, and if it is denser, it will sink.
