Consider the rate of conductive heat transfer from the inside of an animal’s body (at 37 ˚C) to
the cooler surroundings (initially at 22 ˚C). Order the following from lowest to highest
impact. Justify your answer.
The outside temperature increases to 27 ˚C
The thermal conductivity of the animal’s insulating layer is doubled
The thickness of the animal’s insulating layer is halved
The volume of the animal is doubled
The surface of the animal becomes coated in an extremely thin layer of black oil
Animal body is at the temperature of 37 degree celcius and the outside temperature is 27 degree celcius.
Conditions are being varied like out side temperature increment, thermal conductivity increment, thickness of insulating layer increase, volume if the animal doubled, surface area if the animal coated with the thin layer of black oil.
These things can be explained using the Fourier law of heat conduction, which I have explained in the solution section
