On a safari, a team of naturalists sets out toward a research station located 2.4 mi away in a direction 42° south of east. After traveling in a straight line for 3.2 mi, they stop and discover that they have been traveling 68° east of south, because their guide (go figure!!) misread his compass. Someone in the team suggests that everything will be OK if they "just" walk 0.8 mi back in the 42° north of west direction. That advice appears.... well, as misguided as the guide before. Some people in the team have a mental breakdown and start crying. Others have visions of impending death. Someone even calls on Heimdall to open the Bifrost and get them home... Can you guys use your skills to end the chaos? Please help these poor folks out and show them how to calculate how far and in what direction they have to walk from where they are stranded in despair in order to reach the research station. Use a vector theoretical approach instead of pure trigonometry (= not triangles, adjacent, opposite, hypotenuse stuff but components)!
