The eye is a sensory organ whose function is the collection of the light from the outside world and conversion of the light into nerve signals. The transmission of these signals to the brain takes place which results in the formation of the image which we see.
The eyes are the main organs responsible for vision and there are many structures supporting their function. The transparent window present over the front of the eyes are the cornea. This window covers the iris and the pupil. The lens is present behind the pupil and it's function is focussing the light onto the retina. The light sensitive lining present st the back of the eye is formed by the retina. The optic nerve which connects to the retina function in the transmission of the visual information to the brain for the image interpretation.
