Name the postnatal stages of development.

Postnatal development occurs after birth. Postnatal development has five stages. The five stages of postnatal development are as follows:- 

• neonatal period
• infancy
• childhood
• adolescence
• maturity.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The neonatal period is the period from birth to one month old. The newborn is still dependent on the nourishment  from the mother. The mammary glands produce milk. The baby receives nutrients, proteins, fluid, antibodies, and fats from the milk. The organ systems are working on achieving their full functions.

Infancy is the period from one month to two years. During this time, the baby’s organ systems are developing their functions. Childhood is the period from two years to puberty. Puberty is the period of sexual development. Puberty usually begins 10 years after birth. Adolescence is the period from puberty to complete maturation. Maturation is the complete physical and sexual development. Maturity occurs from complete maturation to senescence or death.
