Name the losses in the transformer
Name the losses in the transformer
Basically, the losses in the transformer are of two types:
- Core losses or iron losses
- Copper losses
- Core losses or the iron losses:
These losses happen due to the internal property of the core, so they are known as the core losses.
It is further divided in two parts:
Hysteresis loss:
It is the loss which happens because of the reversal of the magnetization of the transformer core. It Is effected by the volume and the type of the iron, the frequency of the reversal of the magnetic field and also on the flux density.
Eddy current loss:
While the emf is inducing on the secondary winding of the transformer due to the flux linkage, some amount of the flux start linking with the conducting material of the transformer like core and body of the transformer, due to which emf will induced in these parts and produces the circulating current which is in very lesser amount. Due to this there is some kind of energy losses which is known as the eddy current losses.
