Question

Microsoft, as an operating system development organisation just like other competitors in the software industry, have been constantly upgrading their products over the years. What would you suggest as the three reasons for these upgrades?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Let’s discuss this point very clearly-

You know upgrade is a very progressive word. It is very common word in IT and business related people to mention the word many times to sustaining an organization. If any organization has some slight outdated systems they can be acceptable but organization like Microsoft and Google have to upgrade their technology continuously. Let’s discuss some reason as below-

  1. Keeping up with competitors:

Competition has been a basis art of every business   since it ever started. When two companies are formed that both have similar goals, one will try to achieve advance over other. If one tech company become the weakest then that company need to act fast on how to rely to its competitors. For example Microsoft is the parent and most demanding operating system manufacturer company and there are also some other company which has their own operating systems like Unix and Linux. So every organization put its great effort to overachieve than other by upgrading their technology continuously.

  1. Enhanced business opportunities:

Development in technology can lead to business opportunities and many organizations do not hesitate to take advantage of upgrading technology.  By gaining popularity of the internet, business opportunities were easier to get.  The late 90's was the golden era for technology as internet access started to become common in the house hold.  Online trading is still popular today but now these are more persuasive ways to get your message across, such as advertising on websites, something part of IT upgrade.

  1. Increasing globalization-

Here globalization means in the sense that the world is becoming the more interconnected due to the increasing the trade around the world. For example I am able to buy a product from USA because of internet connection and other factor such as transportation progression. The birth of globalization existed due to the development and improvement of the internet, email and video conferences. Don’t forget that the company competitors will be going through the same path as another organization so it is important to make full use of technology in the most effective way to reduce costs and increase efficiency while not reducing quality.
