Equations and Inequations
Equations and inequalities describe the relationship between two mathematical expressions.
Linear Functions
A linear function can just be a constant, or it can be the constant multiplied with the variable like x or y. If the variables are of the form, x2, x1/2 or y2 it is not linear. The exponent over the variables should always be 1.
The heat loss H, in watts, trough a single-pane window varies jointly as the area A and the difference T between the inside and outside temperatures. If the heat loss is 6 watts for a window with an area of 1.5 square meters and a temperature difference of 2 degrees Celsius, what is the heat loss for a window with an area of 2 square meters and a temperature difference of 5 degree celsius?
a. What type of variation is the above problem?
b. What is the constant of variation (K)?
c. What is the heat loss for the window?
