Ocean acidification is the decrease in pH level of ocean water due to the uptake of carbon dioxide by the ocean water. The pH of seawater is basic and because of carbon dioxide, the pH shift takes place. It doesn’t mean the transition towards the acidic values but the neutral value. The seawater pH is 8.19 while the acidic seawater has pH 8.05.
