List five major cell types of lymphatic tissues and state the
function of each
Introduction:
The majority of the tissue fluid formed at the capillary's arterial end gets absorbed back into the blood by the venous ends of capillaries and the postcapillary venules. The remaining tissue fluid (10 to 20 %) is absorbed by the lymphatics that begin blindly in the tissue spaces.
The largest particle, such as the proteins and the particulate matter, can only be removed from the tissue fluid by the lymphatics. Thus, the lymphatic system is considered a coarse type drainage system, and the venous system is a fine type drainage system.
Some parts of the lymphatic system (lymphoreticular organs) are majorly involved in phagocytosis, raising immune responses, and contributing to the lymph and blood cell populations. The lymphoreticular system is responsible for immune response, and it comprises lymphoid and reticuloendothelial components.
