Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
It is a multiple authentication methods security technologies that are independent categories of credentials to login is verified by a user's unique identity or any other transaction. Multi-factor authentication combines two or more independent credentials: something the user knows, such as a password; what the user has, such as a security token; and what the user is, using biometric authentication methods.
The main agenda of MFA is to create multi-layered security protection that makes it unable or very difficult to get access to unauthorized persons such as a physical location, computing device, network, or database. If one factor is compromised or breached, the attacker still needs to breach at least one or more barriers before successfully penetrating the target.
