Inside a uniform electirc field, a particle is released from rest. The particle moves from a potential of 6V to 12V purely off of the electrical force on it.

This means the particle must have a ______

Postive charge

Negative Charge

Neutral

or can be negative or positive

Expert Solution
Step 1

We known that direction of electric field is in the direction of the decreasing potential (electric field is equal to negative of gradient of potential).

As here the particle is moving from 6 V to 12 V (increasing potential ) direction which is opposite to the direction of electric field.

We also know that in the present of electric field negative charge is moving opposite direction of electric field and positive charge is moving in the direction of electric field and neutral charge is not effected by the electric field.
