In your own words, what does "FSF" refer to?
The FSF is the Free Software Foundation. Richard Stallman was the first person to start it. Its goal is to let people worldwide use software that isn't based on strict patent laws, high prices, or limited copyrights.
The FSF's most significant project is GNU, a replacement for Unix and a place for programmers to work.
FSF is working on a long list of projects, such as music editors, word processors, games, and tools for programming.
FSF projects are constantly changing; anyone can help test and develop them. They are usually covered by a "copyleft" license, such as the GNU General Public License.
This means that the author still owns the intellectual property rights to the code, but anyone can use it.
