Because you are creating a sketch of a graph, your graph will NOT be based upon an equation....You don't have one to work with :) Again, you are NOT creating an equation or working with an equation. You are just drawing a sketch of a graph. Sketch a graph that has the following characteristics: 1) It must be a rational function. 2) It must contain 2 vertical asymptotes. 3) It must contain 1 horizontal asymptote at y=-2. 4) It must contain exactly 2 x-intercepts. 5) It must be symmetrical with respect to the y axis. Make sure your graph meets all 5 of these criteria. After creating the graph, and showing your understanding of rational functions, answer the following questions: 1. What is the domain of your graph? What is the range of your graph? 2. Could the y intercept be POSITIVE? Answer yes/no and then explain your reasoning. 3. If you had an equation (which you do not), what would be the factors of the denominator....based on your graphs asymptotes?
