Illustrate the Test R2 for significance?
Coefficient of determination:
The coefficient of determination (r2) is the percentage of total observed variation in the response variable that is accounted for by changes (variability) in the explanatory variable.
R-squared is a statistical measure that represents the proportion of the variance for a dependent variable that is explained by an independent variable or variables in a regression model. The correlation explains the strength of the relationship between an independent and dependent variable, whereas R-squared explains to what extent the variance of one variable explains the variance of the second variable.
The squared correlation gives fraction of variability of response variable (y) accounted for by the linear regression model.
The coefficient of determination, R-squared value is defined as,
Where, SST, SSR and SSE are the total sum of squares, the regression sum of squares and the error sum of squares respectively.
