Earthquakes and volcanoes are natural disasters that occur due to processes happening within the interior of the Earth.
Earthquakes are sudden violent shaking of the Earth triggered by the release of energy within the subsurface. The energy released travels within the Earth in the form of vibrations.
Volcanoes are mountains from which magmatic material is ejected, sometimes violently. The magma is under tremendous pressure; when this magma finds a fissure or a vent within the rock, it rises, and as the pressure reduces, it expands and ejects into the atmosphere explosively.
