Expert Solution
Step 1

Dissolution of a solute in a solvent to form a solution does not involve a chemical transformation. Substances that form a single homogeneous phase in all proportions are said to be completely miscible in one another. Any    time you dissolve a covalent compound like sugar, you're looking at a physical change. The molecules get further apart in the solvent, but they don't change.
